usana.gifUSANA Health Sciences, Inc. released a study yesterday done by researcher at the University of Colorado, Denver that confirmed that a lifestyle change can improve Metabolic Syndrome. Metabolic Syndrome as it is commonly referred to, is used to describe the pre-diabetic state that usually involves obesity, high blood pressure and insulin resistance. Researchers found that when participants made changes in lifestyle, eating and taking nutritional supplements, the symptoms of the Syndrome significantly eased.

This study validated a study done by USANA in 2005. Both studies used USANA’s nutritional supplement including USANA nutritional shakes and health bars.

The original study, conducted by USANA, involved 25 subjects who went through USANA’s lifestyle modification project. The newer study, done by the University of Colorado involved a larger group of 60 participants who followed an internet based program for 12 weeks. The results of both studies were similar.

Dr. Ray Strand, a family-practice physician, member of USANA’s Scientific Advisory Council and distributor, developed the Internet-based lifestyle program used in both studies. Subjects in the UCD study lost an average of 12 lbs.

The full study will not be available until later in the year, some of the results have already been announced.
