avonwalklogoAvon  announced that they will partner with Dempsey Racing this year for the the 2009 Rolex 24 at Daytona. The partnership will be between Dempsey Racing and the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. The No. 40 White Mazda RX-8, which will of course be driven by Patrick Dempsey will carry a pink trim on the black and white car.

Avon will also be giving one lucky person a chance to win a meeting with Dempsey at a future Grand Am event, just by registering for more info on the partnership on the Avon Walk website. www.avonwalk.org.

Team Dempsey, Dempsey Racing, will compete in the Gran Am Rolex Sports Car Series in the GT class. The event, presented by Crown Royal will take place in Dayton at the 47th running of America’s premier sports car race January 24-25.

Demspsey and his wife have been active participants in several charitable initiaves that Avon has sponsored. Dempsey is thrilled to not only be racing in the event, a sport he has a passion for, but also to be supporting Avon and Breast cancer research. “Real men can wear pink,” said Dempsey, who races in the Rolex Series when his busy shooting schedule for the popular television program, Grey’s Anatomy, allows. “All of us at Dempsey Racing are proud to partner with the Avon Foundation in its fight against breast cancer. By wearing pink on our suits and on our cars, we hope to raise awareness for this important cause and for an extraordinary series of events: the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer.”

Avon held their eighth annual Avon Foundation Award Celebration: The Hope Honors, this week in New York City. The awards recognized the Avon Foundation and the notable figures who are leading the cause to help fight against breast cancer and domestic violence.

On hand for the event were Avon spokespeople and national celebrities including Patrick Dempsey and his wife Jillian Dempsey who serves as Avon Global Creative Color Director, Lauren Conrad, Jordin Sparks, Suze Orman, Cynthia Rowley, and world renowned cancer surgeon and best selling author, Dr. Susan Love.

Avon CEO and Chairman Andrea Jung also attended the star studded event along with Avon Foundation Director Carol Kurzig.

Over 700 guests packed Cipriani 42nd Street to recognize those who have helped the Avon Foundation raise over $15 million dollars for breast cancer and domestic violence in the last 8 years. Since its inception over 60 years ago, the Avon Foundation has raised over $660 million dollars in over 50 countries to help woman around the world improve their lives.

The Avon Foundation has partnered with the U.S. State Department to announce a public-private partnership help combat breast cancer around the world.

The two organizations will join forces to participate at the 2008 Breast Cancer Global Congress held next week in Washington D.C. The event will include participants from over 40 countries around the world who will come together at the Department of the State’s George C. Marshall Center in Washington D.C. Among the participants will be researchers, doctors, public health figures, and survivors of the disease who will discuss progress in research and treatments as well as new preventative measures.

The Avon Foundation was founded in 1955 and has become a leader in the fight against breast cancer. In 1992 the foundation created the Avon Foundation Breast Cancer Crusade, which is dedicated solely to the fight against breast cancer. The foundation raises millions of dollars every year through various events including the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer to support education, screening and research. Since 1992, they have raised almost 600 million dollars and have become the larges single contributor towards the fight against breast cancer.

The Avon Foundation, an organization sponsored by the Avon cosmetics company, announced today that they have partnered with The Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation to launch a new campaign, the Love/Avon Army of Women.  The revolutionary program will partner women with breast cancer and researchers to help unlock the mystery of what causes breast cancer.

The main goal of the program will be to move beyond just searching for a cure, but in finding clear answers to how women today can prevent the cancer from attacking. The Love/Avon Army of Women are encouraging women of all races, and ethnicities to take part in the research that will helps the millions of people affected by breast cancer each year.

The program will offer women the chance to participate in finding a cure simply by going to the Army of Women site and signing up to participate in future research studies. Women who are healthy, at risk, or currently undergoing treatment can all join in on the efforts to find answers. All information of participants is kept strictly confidential. Studies range from simple questionnaires to providing blood samples. The volunteer will determine how much they are willing to participate. All research and data collected will go through scientific, safety and ethical review to ensure their validity.

Dr. Susan Love, for whom the Susan Love Research Foundation is named, has been a leader in the breast cancer movement for over 3 decades, is excited about the partnership and its possibilities. “Women have repeatedly demonstrated through fundraising and advocacy their personal dedication to ending this disease. This new initiative gives women the opportunity to take the next steps and be part of the research itself.”
