Many networkers diligently seek how to build MLM successfully. Unfortunately, for some, the journey is not pleasant and they end up becoming frustrated and even quitting in some cases. What they fail to realize is that there are 6 mistakes that many people in MLM are making. By becoming aware of what these mistakes are and learning to avoid them, they can get back on the road to success. If you want to learn how to build MLM, take a close look at these 6 biggest mistakes made in network marketing and do the opposite!

*Mistake #1: Not having a business owner’s mentality. There is too “employee minded” mentality for many in MLM. When a person starts their business, they should view themselves as the CEO and president. This means creating a plan and taking action consistently to achieve success. It also means taking responsibility for when things go well or don’t. It does not mean working the business when you feel like it, working hard for a month, and then stopping for two, etc. This business should be treated like any other. Anyone with a “follower” mentality or wanting to sit around until they are told what to do will be in for a struggle. After all, this is “network marketing” and not “net free”.

*Mistake #2: Failing to make decisions. Unfortunately, some desire to know how to build a successful MLM, but never take the time to figure out their “why”; why they want to do this business and what kind of incredible life changes will be the outcome of their success. If the reason is “just for the money”, a networker will not be around long. Some too, never make a decision to succeed. They will say things like “try”, “I’ll do my best”, “I’ll give it a shot”, etc. There never is “I will do whatever it takes to be successful”. If a networker has not made this crucial decision, prospects will pick up on it and figure it’s not worth joining if it’s going to dull and just like another 9-5 job.

*Mistake #3: Expecting too much too soon. Many prospects are given the impression that building mlm is easy, anyone can do it, and the money will start rolling in very quickly. Now, there are some who do come in and explode, but these cases are rare. Most people can’t make loads of money that quickly. There is a learning curve and everyone’s pace is different. Too many prospects are presented with hype and get rich quick scenarios. This is falsely leading them and anyone who uses these techniques will find it difficult to successfully build MLM. It is ok to show people how the business can be exciting with huge potentials but it needs to be presented realistically.

*Mistake #4: Work is done in spurts. If a networker is seeking how to build MLM successfully, working in spurts will doom them to failure. Work done in spurts is working for a few days and then stopping for a few, or working hard for 5 months, and then doing nothing for the rest of the year. What is needed is constant and consistent action, even if little results are seen at first. The work in spurts actions will only result in frustration and for some, quitting the business.

Mistake #5: Thinking it’s just a numbers game. While it is true a networker will likely talk to many people before finding a true leader, having the mentality of all that is needed to do is buy lists, talk to a certain amount of people, and then the business will explode is flawed. MLM is all about relationships, and not calling 100 people in day and expecting 30 to join on the spot. MLM is about helping others achieve their goals and dreams and this can only be done by taking the time to get to know people. Extraordinary results can be achieved when rich relationships have been developed.

*Mistake #6: Failing to develop leaders. When it comes to how to build MLM successfully, many networkers fail to realize that extraordinary results can be found not with 100 distributors, but leaders who can successfully build big downlines. In many cases, this may only be 3-4 people. You want to be a leader who breeds leaders who are independent. You train, teach, and show them how to build the business, and then let them build their teams. You teach vision, principles; skills that will help them achieve success. Yes, this is work, but the value of true leader is tremendous. Remember, this is network marketing and not net welfare, net free, etc. It is much better to spent lots of time with 3 or 4 leaders who will multiply leaders in their teams, then have a mass of distributors.

So, if you want to know how to build MLM successfully, avoid the top 6 mistakes that were covered. Build your MLM business the right way, become a leader with vision and seek to find others who are true leaders. Have a powerful why and not do the business just for the money. If you build your business this way, you will find success.

One of the most important pieces of success in the MLM world is the “follow up.” To be a productive and successful distributor, it is essential to learn how to follow up with potential customers and individuals who might want to be part of your downline. It is essential to transition a potential client into a paying customer or new distributor. Sometimes it is difficult to keep up with the hundreds, possible thousands of customers in the database. It is not unheard of for phone calls to cease over time and customers will only get a call when a distributor is looking to promote new products or reach a quota.

To help solve this problem, Kitara Wilson, an MLM vet has created a new site, Direct Sales PLR, which offers pre-written articles that can be purchased and used in newsletters. Wilson saw a need for an easier and more time efficient way for direct marketers to keep up with their existing database without taking time away from daily marketing job efforts and priorities.

The pre-written letters can also be used online on websites, blogs, and can even be printed and mailed. All of the letters and articles can be customized so that each distributor can add their own personal touch for their downline.

“Home-based business owners are busy,” states Wilson. “They usually have families, their business and social obligations that make it very challenging to fit in follow up phone calls and visits with each of their customers. DirectSalesPLR.com removes the heavy feeling that comes with following up and makes it an enjoyable experience because the work has already been done for you. All you have to do is send it out.”

It will be interesting to see how this service takes off. For distributors who have thousands of clients and other sales people in their downline, this will make communication faster and easier. There is no membership required on the site and nothing ever “sells out.” This makes me wonder if network marketers will begin seeing lots of very similar letters and sales pages. While this new service might make communication easier, it might also make it less personal. It will be important for marketers to change the language a bit and customize the letters to make them more personal.

When it comes to how to build your MLM business, it would be fantastic to have prospects calling daily for information about their business. This would be every networker’s dream. In reality, this concept isn’t totally out in left field. There are things you as a networker can do to attract people to them. Here are 5 tips to get started in the right direction!

Tip #1: Use a Relationship Building Tool
One of the first things to realize is people do not join a company, but a sponsor. This happens because a know, like, and trust relationship has been built. So, in order for this to occur, you need some type of relationship building tool.

You could use a tool such as Tom Schreiter’s “How to Get Rich without Winning the Lottery” book, a CD, brochure, or anything that explains the benefits of network marketing. You just pass out this tool. What happens is if a person really is interested, they will contact you.

Here is how this works. Let’s say during a conversation a person, they indicate they are having difficulty or problem. When the timing is right, a few opening statements you could use are:
*I’ve been reading up on how to take control of my finances.”
*I just read a book on how to . . . “
*You want to make more money? That’s awesome. What’s your plan?”
*”I just started taking a capsule that is helping me sleep better at night. Here is what happened.”
That’s it. Then end with something like “This book may or may not give you ideas” or “It may not be what you are looking for.” Statements such as these give the person permission to say “no” right away and that’s ok.

Tip #2: Develop Leaders From Your Desk
Everyone who works in an office usually has something on their desk that their colleagues might be interested in such as candy. Why not put your book, brochure, magazine, etc. right in plain sight so people can see it? Let them take it if they want and just replace it. Who knew how to build mlm could be done right from a desktop!

Tip #3: Work That Internet.
If you are a person who builds your mlm on the internet, always include information about your marketing tool in the signature file along with contact information. Make sure it is an eye catching headline so people will want to click through to see what you have to offer.

Tip #4: Arm Those Business Cards.
Usually every business person has a business card, including you. Unfortunately, when cards are passed out, too many times they end up in the garbage. How can you stop this? Well, give them a reason to contact you. For instance, if you are promoting the “How to Get Rich without Winning the Lottery Book”, you could put on the back of your business card something like: “For a free copy of “How to Get Rich Without Winning the Lottery”, just call me. Your phone will ring with a message like that.

Tip #5: Let Your Voice Mail Act As A Recruiting Tool
Everybody, including you, has some sort of voice mail. All you do is to leave a message such as:
“Thanks for calling. I’m away from the phone right now but I’d love to hear from you. Leave your name, phone number, and purpose of the call and I’ll get back in touch with you. By the way, if you are calling about getting a free copy of the book, “How to Get Rich without Winning the Lottery”, let me know!” That’s it. Some people will call because they just can’t help themselves after hearing a message like that.
As you can see when it comes to how to build mlm, there are specific things you can do to attract people to you. Using a low key relationship building tool such as a magazine, brochure, book, dvd, etc., can be a great way to build your mlm business. Prospects can be contacting you daily. Why not take action and get started today!

We have all heard the stories of the struggles that many network marketers have. They want to know how to recruit people for MLM and how to build MLM the best way. The truth is, if you are struggling, your lack of success may not be your fault. We recently received this great perspective from Monique Hawkins and here are her three tips that can guide you to a great MLM career.

Tip #1 Change your mentality. People feel they fail for many reasons. They think they are not coming out of their comfort zone. Some think they are too tall, too short, or are not attractive enough. Some feel their failure to go to company events is the problem or they just are not cut out for MLM.

If you are thinking like this, stop! All of us have been recommending and promoting for years and years. If we choose to stop, we will just stop our paycheck.

The problem is that many of us have been convinced that MLM is a sales business. Because of this mentality, we stop recommending and promoting.

One of the secrets to MLM success is realizing this is a mentoring and coaching business; a relationship business. Anybody can do this if they truly want to. We just teach how to pick up the paycheck.

Tip #2: Learn to generate your own leads.

Many people in MLM buy leads. This is not the best way to build your business. You see, many leads lists are sold to a number of different companies, so your “hot” prospect might already have had numerous other calls from folks trying to get them in “on the deal”.

When it come to how to recruit in MLM, another important point is that this isn’t a duplicatable system. Believe it or not, some people out there are paying $100 per lead and spend $1500 a month on leads. Plus, they spend around $2,000 on their company’s product. Now, think for a minute. How duplicatable is this for most people? $100 a lead and $2,000 a month on products? Can you see when it comes how to recruit people in MLM and how to build MLM, this is a bad strategy?

The bottom line is first, you do not need to buy leads especially when it is much easier to generate your own. Second, it is crucial you have a duplicatable system so it is not difficult for you and your downline to recruit people for your MLM business.

Tip #3: Take a careful look at how big the company’s building is.

This sounds weird, but it is something that should be carefully considered.

Have you ever taken the time to think about how much upkeep a huge building requires? Not only this, but also how much staff it takes to keep the operation going?

You see, when a company has a huge building with a lot of staff, the company has to pay for the lights, keep the lawn mowed, pay for electricity, maintenance people, etc., that can add up very quickly! Plus, with all that staff comes salaries, bonuses, vacation time, health benefits, short-term disability, and the like. The bottom line, it all adds up, for some, to millions a month in overhead.

You may ask who is paying for all of this? In many cases the money has to be taken from the compensation plan. Also, products prices can be high to help cover costs. Whatever the case, this is a bad scenario.

You want to always make sure you bring your people into a strong company where they will be paid well for their efforts and where products are sold to consumers at the best price. This will help them build a successful business.

So, when it comes to how to recruit people for MLM and how to build MLM, if you keep these important points in mind, you will be well on your road to success!
