The WNBA just launched it first ever social networking site. The new site, www.cafemerc.com is the fan social networking site of the Phoenix WNBA team, the Mercury. The site will be presented by Verve Energy Drink which is the official drink of the Phoenix Mercury WNBA team.
Fans of the WNBA can create their own profiles, write blogs, join in on discussions, and upload pictures and artwork related to the Mercury.
The Phoenix Mercury signed a five year deal with Verve to be the official sponsor of the team. As part of the deal, Verve Energy drink is available to fans at all Mercury games at the US Airways Center. The Verve drink will also be available for purchase on the CafeMerc site.
“Mercury fans want more than just the latest news and information,” said Mercury and Suns Vice President of Interactive Services Jeramie McPeek. “They want to be able to interact with the site, voice their opinions and help us create exciting new content. CaféMerc.com will be a new hot spot for our fans to express their passion for Mercury basketball.”
Vemma/Verve CEO BK Boreyko is excited about his company’s participation in this exciting new venture, “Verve is thrilled to present CaféMerc.com, the new social networking site is a reflection of the momentum and energy which are represented in both Verve and the Mercury.”
I checked out the site today, and it is actually really well done. You definitely can’t miss the big Verve logo right there in the top corner, but other than the advertising, it’s a great site for fans. Not only can you check out the Verve Energy Drink, but fans can keep up with the team, view pics of players and games, buy tickets, and interact with other fans of the team.
