Many networkers desire to build a successful MLM business. They see others who do it well and want to know how to build MLM just like the “big guys”. In reality, the “big guys” are just normal people who learned how to be successful.

The truth is, there is a difference between leaders and those who desire to be leaders but fail to take certain actions. They are the “wannabe’s”. Let’s take a close look at what real leaders do in MLM and why they achieve much success.

1. Daily Actions. Those who are successful in MLM take consistent action daily. For some, it is something as simple as getting two exposures per day for their business. They do this in many ways such as giving away a free ebook, sharing their story with two people, adding a few friends to their friend’s list on a site like Facebook, giving away a free report, etc. These are simple steps, but will have big results in the long term.

2. Weekly Actions. Leaders in MLM take weekly actions. For some, this is accomplished by sending out one long distance package a week to someone they feel would benefit from hearing about the biz opportunity or product. The packet can contain a book, CD, pamphlet, product sample, etc. This lets people know the leader is in business without a big sales pitch. Once again, these are simple actions, but will have a huge payoff in the long term.

3. Monthly Actions. Those leaders who have learned how to build MLM successfully attend monthly events. The events can be in their hometown or further away. MLM events can include special dinners, luncheons, chamber of commerce events, seminars, etc. These activities increase the leaders knowledge and prospect data base.

4. Personal Development. Leaders in MLM who are successful are always seeking ways to increase their personal growth. They do this by reading books, listening to CD’s, participating in mastermind groups, etc. On-going personal development for them is a must and they do so for at least 15-30 minutes a day.

5. Stay With the Ship. Leaders who understand how to build MLM successfully know massive success won’t come in 30, 60, or 90 days. They know they must give whatever system they are using time to work and build momentum. They know they must give the system at least a year and they are committed to this. There is no jumping ship for each hot new deal that may come along.

6. Have a “Slight Edge” Philosophy. Those who are leaders in MLM have the “slight edge” mindset and philosophy. They know that necessary actions are easy to do or not to do. They choose to take responsibility for both success and failures in their business. Leaders know daily actions may not seem to make a big difference initially, but are committed to following through with them. Successful leaders realize that initially 80% of their time might be required to make their business work, but eventually this will change to 20% of effort which will result in great rewards.

7. Live Outside the Comfort Zone. Lastly, those leaders who know how to build MLM successfully do what others are not willing to do. They are OK with living outside their comfort zone for awhile in order to be comfortable later on. They know that if they are consistent, a big turn around usually comes in 3-5 years.

So, as one can see, true leaders in MLM operate by different methods and mindset than those who are just wannabe’s. To become a true leader and build a successful MLM business, adopt the actions and mindset discussed and get on the road to success.

Many networkers diligently seek how to build MLM successfully. Unfortunately, for some, the journey is not pleasant and they end up becoming frustrated and even quitting in some cases. What they fail to realize is that there are 6 mistakes that many people in MLM are making. By becoming aware of what these mistakes are and learning to avoid them, they can get back on the road to success. If you want to learn how to build MLM, take a close look at these 6 biggest mistakes made in network marketing and do the opposite!

*Mistake #1: Not having a business owner’s mentality. There is too “employee minded” mentality for many in MLM. When a person starts their business, they should view themselves as the CEO and president. This means creating a plan and taking action consistently to achieve success. It also means taking responsibility for when things go well or don’t. It does not mean working the business when you feel like it, working hard for a month, and then stopping for two, etc. This business should be treated like any other. Anyone with a “follower” mentality or wanting to sit around until they are told what to do will be in for a struggle. After all, this is “network marketing” and not “net free”.

*Mistake #2: Failing to make decisions. Unfortunately, some desire to know how to build a successful MLM, but never take the time to figure out their “why”; why they want to do this business and what kind of incredible life changes will be the outcome of their success. If the reason is “just for the money”, a networker will not be around long. Some too, never make a decision to succeed. They will say things like “try”, “I’ll do my best”, “I’ll give it a shot”, etc. There never is “I will do whatever it takes to be successful”. If a networker has not made this crucial decision, prospects will pick up on it and figure it’s not worth joining if it’s going to dull and just like another 9-5 job.

*Mistake #3: Expecting too much too soon. Many prospects are given the impression that building mlm is easy, anyone can do it, and the money will start rolling in very quickly. Now, there are some who do come in and explode, but these cases are rare. Most people can’t make loads of money that quickly. There is a learning curve and everyone’s pace is different. Too many prospects are presented with hype and get rich quick scenarios. This is falsely leading them and anyone who uses these techniques will find it difficult to successfully build MLM. It is ok to show people how the business can be exciting with huge potentials but it needs to be presented realistically.

*Mistake #4: Work is done in spurts. If a networker is seeking how to build MLM successfully, working in spurts will doom them to failure. Work done in spurts is working for a few days and then stopping for a few, or working hard for 5 months, and then doing nothing for the rest of the year. What is needed is constant and consistent action, even if little results are seen at first. The work in spurts actions will only result in frustration and for some, quitting the business.

Mistake #5: Thinking it’s just a numbers game. While it is true a networker will likely talk to many people before finding a true leader, having the mentality of all that is needed to do is buy lists, talk to a certain amount of people, and then the business will explode is flawed. MLM is all about relationships, and not calling 100 people in day and expecting 30 to join on the spot. MLM is about helping others achieve their goals and dreams and this can only be done by taking the time to get to know people. Extraordinary results can be achieved when rich relationships have been developed.

*Mistake #6: Failing to develop leaders. When it comes to how to build MLM successfully, many networkers fail to realize that extraordinary results can be found not with 100 distributors, but leaders who can successfully build big downlines. In many cases, this may only be 3-4 people. You want to be a leader who breeds leaders who are independent. You train, teach, and show them how to build the business, and then let them build their teams. You teach vision, principles; skills that will help them achieve success. Yes, this is work, but the value of true leader is tremendous. Remember, this is network marketing and not net welfare, net free, etc. It is much better to spent lots of time with 3 or 4 leaders who will multiply leaders in their teams, then have a mass of distributors.

So, if you want to know how to build MLM successfully, avoid the top 6 mistakes that were covered. Build your MLM business the right way, become a leader with vision and seek to find others who are true leaders. Have a powerful why and not do the business just for the money. If you build your business this way, you will find success.

Many people in network marketing desire to know how to be successful in MLM. Indeed, with the attrition rate so high, finding success is not always easy.

Many people do not realize that asking one simple question can greatly increase their chance of success? The question is quite simple. It is asking if they are in a vampire network. Read on to discover what a vampire network is.

-Vampire network question #1: What is a vampire network? A vampire network is always out for new blood. It is a company that constantly pushes distributors to build a huge downline. There is no true product and people would not join if there wasn’t a business opportunity associated with it. Recruiting is important, but is spells bad news if it is the primary focus.

-Vampire network question #2: Is anyone retailing products or are they just garage qualified? Of course, everyone should continue to seek new leaders to grow and develop, but not to the point where no retailing of products occurs. There has to be a balance.

-Vampire network question #3: Where is the focus? If the focus is only on recruiting, and you are getting paid just to recruit, this is vampire networking.

-Vampire network question #4: What is the product price? Is it competitively priced? Is the product price being inflated? Remember, only a few companies manufacture products for most MLM companies. Inflated prices occur when a company’s products are very high and the same product can be found with another company for much less. Plus, if you can find the product in places like Wal-mart, Costco, Safeway, on Ebay, etc., this spells trouble for distributors. Who can compete against Wal-Mart? When it comes to how to be successful in MLM, being involved with a company such as this will make success difficult.

-Vampire network question #5: What profit are people making? A profit is simply the difference between the wholesale and retail price of a product. If distributors only get 3%, 5%, 7%, etc. of the wholesale profit, they are going to need many, many people to build a good income. Many people more than likely means a couple of thousand or more. Ouch! Vampire networking!

-Vampire network question #6: How much overhead does the company have? For some, this sounds weird but it is important to consider. The less overhead, the more a company can put in a compensation plan for distributors.

-Vampire network question #7: Are bonuses paid out? Do people have to go through so many hoops that only the top 1% of people are qualified? This is especially important to consider since most people MLM are part-timers. If almost no one ever qualifies, where does the money go? If people are looking at how to be successful in MLM, think about this very carefully.

-Vampire network question #8: Would people buy the product if there were no business opportunity associated with it? The question to always ask is if the recruiting stopped for any amount of time, would the company still be in business? If there is no true product yet lots of recruiting going on, it’s an illegal pyramid scheme.

So, to answer the question how to be successful in MLM, think carefully about the above questions. If some people don’t like their answers, it means they very well could be in a vampire network where success will be very difficult. Choose to be part of a company where you can build it big for your children and your children’s children.

Every professional networker desires to build an MLM leads list. For some, building an MLM local leads list is even more desirable. Now, some people will opt to buy leads. However, being a savvy networker, you know that it works much better if you generate your own leads. If you are one who falls into this category, here is how you can do this the easy way.

I’m sure you realize there are numerous restaurants in your town that attract a lunch crowd. You may even be part of a crowd that frequents a particular place. What you need to do is pick a deli or restaurant. It can be the place you frequent or another. Once you have done that, approach the owner or manager and ask if it is Ok for you to give away free lunches. Do you think he or she is going to turn this down? Hardly! Why? This method will increase traffic plus put more money into their pocket.

Once you get permission, create a sign that says “Win a Free Lunch”. Then, create entry forms that say “Win a free lunch. All you have to do is finish the sentence ‘I hate my job because. . .’.Make sure you leave your valid email address in case you win”.

Next, get a bowl, box, or whatever you want to use and get things set up at the restaurant. Now, how many people would love to get a free lunch? Everybody! How many people hate their job? Plenty! Do you think some would be interesting in hearing about how they can earn an extra paycheck per week and get out of the rat race? Of course! So, for everyone who fills out an entry form you will be building not only your MLM list, but also your MLM local leads list. Even better, this would be a list unique to you and targeted.

Each week, pull out a winner and notify them then by email or with a call that they won the free lunch and when the can cash it in. For everyone who didn’t win, you can send them an email that notifies them that though they are not the winner, they did win second place and will get a consolation prize. What to give them? It is up to you. Perhaps it can be a copy of Tom Schreiter’s book “How to Get Rich without Winning the Lottery”. Maybe it can be a brochure, a newsletter about the power of residual income, a free product sample from your company, etc. Make sure you also tell them to email you the contact information so they can get their free item and also so they can be entered in next week’s drawing. You then would send the free item to the people who respond to your email and only enter in the next week’s drawing those who respond. Continue to do this until everyone has received a free lunch.

As you can see, you can use this technique many times over. Even better, it is an inexpensive way to build a MLM leads list and local MLM leads list. Plus, you will come into contact with some great people.
