Interleukin Genetics - maker of the Gensona Heart Health Test ($199.00), which is marketed by Quixtar/Amway, announced that they will launch a newer, modified test report format and informational packet for their Genetic Heart Health Test.

The genetic tests allows patients and their physicians to diagnose potential heart problems for each unique individual as well as symptoms that could lead to heart problems and then design a program designed for each patients specific needs.

The modified report will include quantified risk information on heart disease that was gathered from various clinical studies funded by the company. The new format will allow physicians to diagnose each patients risk factor for heart disease based on genetic information gathered from the test. The report will also include information on the science behind the genetic testing as well as information on preventative medicine to lower the risk of developing heart problems in the future.

Additionally, Quixtar/Amway will provide seminars to distributors to explain the science behind the Gensona test to help their distributors better understand the product in order to provide it to others.

Lewis H. Bender, Chief Executive Officer at Interleukin Genetics, commented, “Heart disease is by far the leading killer of Americans. Individuals with different interleukin gene variations have vastly different clinical trajectories for heart disease progression. The ability to know your individual genetic predisposition for this disease is a new and powerful tool to allow a customer and their physicians to design the best preventive care for that person.

As genetic testing science become more accessible to regular people, the demand seems to be growing for products and services that can be customized to each persons specific unique needs. This is the second article this week we have seen about products designed using genetic testing and I’m sure as it becomes more mainstream, the demand will continue to grow.
