nht-logoNatural Health Trends Corp. has appointed Linda Lucas Padilla to the newly created post of Senior Vice President of Marketing. Ms. Padilla will be the health company’s principal executive in charge of strategic global marketing support as well as branding, product marketing and development as well as play an active role in event planning.

The addition of this position further solidifies NHT’s position in the world of nutraceuticals and will allow the company to build a stronger global presence.

Chris Sharng, president of the company is excited about the new hire and the opportunity Ms. Padilla brings to expand the NHT Global brand. “With the addition of Linda to our executive team, we have made a concerted effort to move Natural Health Trends’ global focus toward a stronger product platform. Prior to joining NHT, Ms. Padilla served as Vice President of Marketing for another direct sales giant, Mannatech. Within the direct sales industry, Ms. Padilla has held executive positions with Aerus Electrolux, Beauticontrol and Priceless Legacy. Her experience within the direct sales world spans over two decades. Ms. Padilla is an active member of the DSA with years of marketing, communications and creative product positions experience.

As a brief follow-up to a story we posted last week, Terrence O’Day, the now former Executive VP and Chief Operating Officer who recently announced his departure from Mannatech was just named the new Senior Vice President, Global Operations, of Hershey - His position there will become effective December 1.

O’Day kept pretty quiet about his departure and the reasons behind it- but now it seems all question have been answered. Still no word yet on his resplacement at Mannatech.

Mannatech, Inc, a global distributor of nutritional supplements and skin care products, has just announced that Terence L. O’Day, the company’s Chief Operating Officer and Executive VP of Global Operations has resigned from the company.

O’Day made the announcement this week. O’Day has decided to join an undisclosed company in a different industry. The resignation will become effective on November 30th, 2008.

O’Day joined the Coppell, Texas based company in June of 2006. Prior to taking on his role at the direct sales company, Mr. O’Day served as Executive VP for the refrigerated foods group and ConAgra Foods, Inc. a publicly traded prepackaged food company.

His position at Mannatech marked his first foray into the world of direct sales, a world that is totally different from the standard public company. Last year, Mr. O’Day reportedly earned a heft sum of money, taking home an estimated $397,986 in total compensation.

Mannatech has not yet announced who will replace O’Day.

Mannatechhas announced that as of November 1st, 2008 they have officially begun selling its products in Singapore.

The expansion into Singapore was celebrated at the company’s Coppell Texas headquarters with a flag raising ceremony. The company is thrilled about the further expansion into Asia as they continue to grow around the world.

Entrepreneurs in Singapore are now eligible for enrollment. While not all products will be available right away, new distributors will have some of the company’s top sellers to offer new clients including the Mannatech Optimal Health System, which is comprised of Advanced Ambrotose glyconutritional dietary supplement; Ambrotose AO antioxidant supplement; PLUS(TM) herbal-amino acid supplement; and MannaMatrix caplets - Mannatech’s proprietary plant and whole food-based multivitamin and mineral supplement, and The MannaBears, a supplement specially designed for children.

Through this week meetings will be held in Singapore at the Grand Plaza Park Hotel to introduce new distributors to the company as well as give them a chance to meet with Mannatech corporate staff. Newly enrolled distributors will have a chance to learn about the products, ask questions, receive tips on running their business and will also receive detailed information about the compensation plan.
