Avon held their eighth annual Avon Foundation Award Celebration: The Hope Honors, this week in New York City. The awards recognized the Avon Foundation and the notable figures who are leading the cause to help fight against breast cancer and domestic violence.

On hand for the event were Avon spokespeople and national celebrities including Patrick Dempsey and his wife Jillian Dempsey who serves as Avon Global Creative Color Director, Lauren Conrad, Jordin Sparks, Suze Orman, Cynthia Rowley, and world renowned cancer surgeon and best selling author, Dr. Susan Love.

Avon CEO and Chairman Andrea Jung also attended the star studded event along with Avon Foundation Director Carol Kurzig.

Over 700 guests packed Cipriani 42nd Street to recognize those who have helped the Avon Foundation raise over $15 million dollars for breast cancer and domestic violence in the last 8 years. Since its inception over 60 years ago, the Avon Foundation has raised over $660 million dollars in over 50 countries to help woman around the world improve their lives.

Avon, a company as well known for their philanthropic efforts as they are for their makeup, has added brand new products tot heir pink line of goodies to raise money to fund breast cancer research.

Among the new items in the Breast Cancer Crusade collection are Pink Ribbon Bubble Bath, a sparkling pink tennis bracelet, a pink water bottle, and pink fleece-lined clogs. The new items join an already extensive collection of accessories and cosmetics.

The donations to the cause vary depending on the item purchase, but go as high as 80% percent of the purchase price. To date, Avon’s philanthropic efforts have raised over $600 million dollars through programs in over 50 countries around the world.

Avon also raises money to fight domestic violence by selling key chains and their Women’s Empowerment Bracelet which was launched last year by Avon Foundation Honorary Chairwoman Reese Witherspoon.

The new pink items are available now on the website and through your local Avon representative.

Wellness International Network, Ltd.,the health and wellness company known for its philanthropic endeavors as well as its weight management and nutritional products, is now setting out to help victims of the recent hurricane in Texas. Hurricane Ike struck southern Texas last month killing 51 people, and displacing hundreds of others.

Wellness International Network has teamed up with a local church in Houston, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston to get much needed supplies to those who are homeless and in need. WIN has donated over 750 bottles of WINSalon Hydra Therapie Shampoo, Conditioner, and Body Cleanser.

Both the church and WIN, a Plano, Texas based company, are dedicated to helping those in need in Texas, especially in the wake of Hurricane Ike. The category 2 storm left thousands homeless and without basic items necessary for day-to-day life.

“We understand the importance of reaching out to others and emphasize that vision here at Wellness International Network,” shares Ralph Oats, WIN Founder. “Cathy and I started Wellness International Network for people to realize their true potential, and we believe helping others is an important part of that reality.”

This isnt the first time WIN has been giving to other organizations. As we reported last month, the company conducted a fund raiser for Wipe Out Kids Cancer Foundation which was a big success.

Reliv announced this week, that its second annual “Walk for the Mission” event has raised almost $70,000 for its Reliv Kalogris Foundations.

The second annual event drew over well over 3,000 independent distributors from over nine countries to help raise money for the nutritional supplement company’s charitable foundation.

The Relìv Kalogris Foundation is named after Dr. Teodore Klogris, developer of Reliv’s very first nutritional product, CLASSIC. The 13 year old charity is funded almost entirely by Reliv Distributor donations. To date, the charity has donated more than $15.5 million dollars to individuals and organizations around the world. Recipients are chosen solely by distributor recommendations.

The main goal of the foundation is to provide free nutritional supplements to individuals around the world, primarily children who do not have access to vitamins and proper nutrition. The majority of recipients are children outside of the US.

R. Scott Montgomery, CEO of Reliv, and the Foundation’s chairman, will was on hand for the walk to thank the participants for their time and donations.
