Janet Rickstrew, the co-founder and CEO of Tomboy Tools has just been honored with the Crystal Vision Award given by the National Association of Women in Construction. (NAWIC).

Tomboy Tools is a Direct Sales company that sells tools specially designed for women through a at home party format, a “tool party.”

The annual award is given to a non-member of the Association, and honors those who promote and encourage women within the construction industry.

The NAWIC, was founded in 1955 in Fort Worth Texas. Since 1995, they have awarded the Crystal Vision Award to women who have made a difference for others within the construction industry. The Association has over 5,000 members in 170 chapters across the United States.

Tomboy Tools was founded 8 years ago by Rickstrew along with Mary Tatum. The two women saw a need for tools that were both appealing and easy to use for women who wished to do their own home projects. The Tomboy Tools are smaller and slimmer, especially designed for a woman’s hand. Since 2000, the Colorado Company has expanded to Canada and the UK.

Avon announced last week that the company will enter into a partnership with James Bond entertainment to create a new fragrance. The new scent will be a signature Bond Girl 007 Fragrance.

Gemma Arterton, the newest bond girl, who will be featured in the upcoming 007 flick, Quantum of Solace, will grace the ads as the face of the fragrance. Arterton will appear in TV and print ads that will begin running in October of 2008 and will coincide with the release of the film.

Word on the street is that the new 007 fragrance, created by Firmenich, is a floral scent with hints of peach and orange followed by notes of jasmine, freesia, with a bit of amber, wood and patchouli. Sounds very interesting and like a bond girl, somewhat mysterious.

The new scent will be available in most major Avon markets including North America, Europe and Latin America.

Avon has teamed with designer Cynthia Rowley for two new feminine fragrances infused with the heady rush of flowers in full bloom.

For Flower, Rowley hand-picked notes of Casablanca Lily and freesia and wrapped them in cashmere woods, vanilla, musk and sandalwood.

Petal is Rowley’s lighter, more youthful take on Flower (think of Petal as Flower’s bud). Petal (shown) and Flower both sport vintage bottle packaging; $30 and $15 (two sizes each).

Mary Kay’s newest product, the customizable mineral makeup compact, has been all over the place lately, showing up in O Magazine and just this weekend had a featured spot on E! Entertainment Television’s Sizzling Summer Preview. The compact was used to do some simple summer makeovers.

The new compact which contains Mary Kay’s amazing mineral makeup is not only completely customizable, but refillable. The mineral makeup is great for your skins, especially in the summer because it is so lightweight. The makeup helps minimize lines, controls excess oil and is crease resistant. It will stay on your face all day and not clump or fade.

The compact has a space on the left for the makeup- eye color, cheek color, foundation, powder, your choice and on the left, the applicator, whether you choose sponge or large brush or three small brushes, and on the top a lip color or lip gloss. And of course, there’s a mirror as well, to touch up easily and conveniently. It’s great for all the small purses or clutches. All your makeup in one little compact and it’s a great deal- only $18 Dollars.

This is a great product, the small compact is easy to carry and mineral makeup is probably the best for your skin, and will stay on all day, even in the heat of the summer. You can put all of your favorite colors in the compact, perfectly customized for your taste and needs. You can check it out on the Mary Kay website which features a fun little video showing you all the things you can do with the compact. And….when you’re done, you can just refill it and keep the compact.
