Many networkers diligently seek how to build MLM successfully. Unfortunately, for some, the journey is not pleasant and they end up becoming frustrated and even quitting in some cases. What they fail to realize is that there are 6 mistakes that many people in MLM are making. By becoming aware of what these mistakes are and learning to avoid them, they can get back on the road to success. *Mistake #1: Not having a business owner’s mentality. There is too “employee minded” mentality for many in MLM. When a person starts their business, they should view themselves as the CEO and president. This means creating a plan and taking action consistently to achieve success. It also means taking responsibility for when things go well or don’t. It does not mean working the business when you feel like it, working hard for a month, and then stopping for two, etc. This business should be treated like any other. Anyone with a “follower” mentality or wanting to sit around until they are told what to do will be in for a struggle. After all, this is “network marketing” and not “net free”.

*Mistake #2: Failing to make decisions. Unfortunately, some desire to know how to build a successful MLM, but never take the time to figure out their “why”; why they want to do this business and what kind of incredible life changes will be the outcome of their success. If the reason is “just for the money”, a networker will not be around long. Some too, never make a decision to succeed. They will say things like “try”, “I’ll do my best”, “I’ll give it a shot”, etc. There never is “I will do whatever it takes to be successful”. If a networker has not made this crucial decision, prospects will pick up on it and figure it’s not worth joining if it’s going to dull and just like another 9-5 job.

*Mistake #3: Expecting too much too soon. Many prospects are given the impression that building mlm is easy, anyone can do it, and the money will start rolling in very quickly. Now, there are some who do come in and explode, but these cases are rare. Most people can’t make loads of money that quickly. There is a learning curve and everyone’s pace is different. Too many prospects are presented with hype and get rich quick scenarios. This is falsely leading them and anyone who uses these techniques will find it difficult to successfully build MLM. It is ok to show people how the business can be exciting with huge potentials but it needs to be presented realistically.

*Mistake #4: Work is done in spurts. If a networker is seeking how to build MLM successfully, working in spurts will doom them to failure. Work done in spurts is working for a few days and then stopping for a few, or working hard for 5 months, and then doing nothing for the rest of the year. What is needed is constant and consistent action, even if little results are seen at first. The work in spurts actions will only result in frustration and for some, quitting the business.

Mistake #5: Thinking it’s just a numbers game. While it is true a networker will likely talk to many people before finding a true leader, having the mentality of all that is needed to do is buy lists, talk to a certain amount of people, and then the business will explode is flawed. MLM is all about relationships, and not calling 100 people in day and expecting 30 to join on the spot. MLM is about helping others achieve their goals and dreams and this can only be done by taking the time to get to know people. Extraordinary results can be achieved when rich relationships have been developed.

*Mistake #6: Failing to develop leaders. When it comes to how to build MLM successfully, many networkers fail to realize that extraordinary results can be found not with 100 distributors, but leaders who can successfully build big downlines. In many cases, this may only be 3-4 people. You want to be a leader who breeds leaders who are independent. You train, teach, and show them how to build the business, and then let them build their teams. You teach vision, principles; skills that will help them achieve success. Yes, this is work, but the value of true leader is tremendous. Remember, this is network marketing and not net welfare, net free, etc. It is much better to spent lots of time with 3 or 4 leaders who will multiply leaders in their teams, then have a mass of distributors.

In part one of this two article series, it was discussed how networkers love network marketing and the model it represents. They desire to achieve MLM online success, but the problem is too many fail to make real profits much less achieve their dreams of financial independence.

It was discovered that there are five critical supports networkers need to be successful. Ignoring one or more of these supports can bring frustration and failure. The first two supports which were company management /leadership, and timing of industry and company were covered in part one. Part two will cover the last three crucial supports.

Let’s continue to take a close look at what is needed.

Support #3) Flagship Product(s)-It must be a “Purple Cow”-affordable
Most networkers realize that the secret to obtaining long term residual income is repeat customers who order products of high quality. It is NOT about making one huge sale or commission. It is about repeat purchases month in and out.
Some may wonder what a “Purple Cow” product is. This is a product that grabs people attention plus makes a significant difference in their lives. It works best if there are multiple “Purple Cow” products. It is difficult for networkers in one product companies to have massive long term success with just one product. This may work in the short-term, but what are really needed are “Purple Cow” products that will create a dependable and lifelong income.

Support #4) Compensation Plan-Pays BOTH the part-time and full-time people a fair percentage
Most networkers know that their organization is made up of over 90% of part-time people. If they are going to stay around, they need to make a profit fairly quickly. You see, for mlm online success, if the part-time people can make a good income, everybody will. In addition, the focus should be on retailing product and not just recruiting other distributors.

Networkers will also need to learn about “breakage” and how to avoid or minimize it. It important to make sure the pay is based on volume and not levels, and to avoid “spillover”. These and other points are ones to look out for in a compensation plan.

Support #5) Duplicatable Proven System-Generous Upline Support, Training, and Mentoring
How to achieve MLM online success also includes becoming educated, developing some basic skills, and taking action to apply the education and skills. This is true for any business.
If the company does not have systems and team work in place to ensure new networkers coming in gets the proper mentoring and training they need, it will be difficult to build a successful business. The business will become like a revolving door with people coming in and out. Who wants to go through that kind of headache?

Many now realize that network marketing is not about selling. It’s about relationships. It’s a lot more fun to find people who are already looking for what a networker has to offer. It becomes a stress free way to build a business. With the development and advances of the internet, it’s much easier. Plus, with the help of a good system, training, and a mentor and coach who can guide and help you, things get even better.

Yes, network marketing is a wonderful way for people to achieve their goals and dreams. If networkers learn to carefully evaluate any opportunity they are considering or already involved in based on the five supports covered, the chances for mlm online success in the long-term is huge. Ignoring one or more of the supports can create frustration, disappointment, and for some, quitting for good.

Many networkers love network marketing and the model it represents. They desire to achieve MLM online success as well as offline success. The problem is many fail to make real profits much less achieve their dreams of financial independence.

Why is this? The reason is that most networkers ignore one or more of the five critical supports they need which this article will cover. Unfortunately, if there is even one weak support, many will never achieve their dreams no matter how skilled or sincere they are.

Because it is one of the best ways you can check if a company has ethics and integrity plus test their future treatment of distributors is in their policies and procedures.

It is a sad fact that many networkers have built huge organizations with a hefty residual income only to have it taken away because of a “red flag” clause in the contract. You know, a loophole. Comments to look out for in the p&p’s include the length of the contact (fewer pages is better), whom it protects (company or distributors), if walk away income is allowed, and if there are other ways for them to take your income or organization.

Also, keep in mind that just because a company is well-known and publicly traded doesn’t mean there are no red flags present in the p $ p’s. So, make sure you do your due diligence so you won’t make a mistake.

Support #2) Timing of Industry and Company
MLM online success is also influenced by this second support which is finding if there is a target market for the company’s product. Is there a hot and hungry market with a big demand? What’s the profit margin? It is always a mistake to fall in love with a product, join a company, and then see if there is a demand. This is doing things backwards. You also need to consider how long a company has been in business and their overall track record.

Here’s another tip crucial tip-do a fast peddle backwards from start ups. This is likely hitting some nerves, but there is a reason for this. Even if you do get lucky and pick a “one in a million” company that lasts more than a few years and has weathered all of the headaches and start-ups issues, many times it is not worth. Many companies claim they will be the next billion dollar one, but people need to give them a few years to see if they can prove their claim, survive the start-up stage, and then head into “momentum”. The fact is, not many can do this. What you want is balance; a teenage company you can grow with, but also has established a success track and proven the likelihood of success.
